Update

First of all thank you for all your messages of support, it was lovely to log on and find them all. It's amazing to think that there are people rooting for Stanley all over the world.

So here's what's happened so far: They'd taken a chest x-ray in the emergency room when he first came in, and it looked slightly abnormal. They feared that it was a problem with his aorta, which would mean being rushed to Belfast for major surgery. After a heart scan and a few anxious hours waiting we were told that his aorta was slightly distorted, but this had happened over a period of time because of his high blood pressure and it wasn't causing him a problem. So they took him down to the theatre and did an angiogram, and they discovered that the major artery on the left side of the heart was completely blocked. There was some furring on the other arteries but the doctor said they were something that he could live with if he changed to a healthy lifestyle. But the main blockage cut off the blood supply completely, damaging a large portion of his heart. They placed a stint in the artery to keep it open, and they seem satisfied that it has restored the blood flow. There's always a risk of the stint failing, but so far it seems to be fine. But when he returned to his room he started having trouble breathing, which caused a lot of concern for us. They examined him again and they realised he had a major build up of fluid in his lungs. They're giving him medication to help that, but as a side-effect it makes his blood pressure drop, so they're having to try and balance what they give him so it doesn't drop too much, because that's not good either. It's a long, slow process, but the doctors seem to think that he's almost past the most critical period. He's not out of the woods yet, by any means, but at the minute he's stable. The damage to his heart may cause him problems in the future, but we'll deal with that as it comes.

He managed to eat some soup and a little bit of chicken today, so that also pleased the doctor.

The main thing is that he's still with us now. Lets pray that it stays that way.

Love you all xoxxox
